We started the day off with a parade. Every ward in Snowflake had to do two floats (I guess here separation between church and state does not apply).
After killing all the ants that were there next to us, we sat and waited for the parade to begin.
Here the kids are collecting all the candy they could find. I had to keep them from running down the street to collect candy, reminding them that more candy would come our way.
This was one of my favorite "floats." There as a guy in the last trash can that was not attached. He was driving it like a giant remote control trash can.
This is our ward's first float. These are some of my young women. They were so thrilled to be dressed in black and wrapped in caution tape to be bees. Savannah & Sierra helped make the signs they the girls are holding.
This is our other float. The guy in the chair was controlling the robot to do the gardening. That is not a bad idea.
I had to include a picture of the horses, because there were a lot of them. Everyone had to be careful where they stepped. My kids thought it was disgusting!!! On a positive note, they were able to see why we don't eat stuff off the ground. I hope they have a whole new understanding of "you don't know where that's been."
After the parade we went to a BBQ. It was pretty tasty! After that we went to the Arts and Crafts fair. What a blast!!!! There were a ton of booths and food and rides. Since I am such a cheap-skate, I only gave each kid $5 to spend the way they wanted.
Saige and Summit chose the rides. First they rode on the train. It was the greatest thing ever.
After the train ride they chose to do some jumping.
I have never seen a two year old so happy. Summit had so much fun. He was on cloud nine.
Saige had a lot of fun too. I think she would have stayed in there the whole time if I would have let her.
I would have let them stay in there and jump the whole time too if it was not 96 outside. Not to mention we were running out of cold water.
Savannah & Sierra chose to get "stuff." They chose to combine their money and share the goods. They must be growing up because they asked me if they could look around themselves while I took the other three to the playground. I was a little hesitant to do that because I hate admitting they are getting older. But it ended up working well. The younger three did not have to be hauled around while sisters were looking and I didn't have to hear them continue to ask "Can I go the the park?" Win, win, right? Savannah & Sierra ended up with two flowers for their hair and a pair of earrings. I did not even hear any screaming while they were shopping. Now if we could just get the to cooperate that well when it comes time to use them.
After all that it was time to get out of the sun. So we came home and rested for a while. We had dinner and then it was off to fireworks.
It was a spectacular show. Even better than the 4th. I cannot wait until next year, it is going to be so much fun!!!!!
