INDEPENDENCE DAY

What a great day!!!!! First off we had Chad and Hollie come over with their 4 kids to play and visit. It was great to see them and the kids all had such a great time playing under the house (we have a crawl space) and then playing basketball.

Then Blake got to open his cards and gifts. What a great time that was.

Summit loves watching people open up gifts. He delights in other's excitement.

Blake loved this card from Rebecca & Robert because of the helicopter on front.

This will not be the final resting place of this poster. We really want to get it done up right. But I decided that after 2 years of sitting rolled up it really needed to be out and enjoyed. Now if I would just get the rest of the house painted we could hang it.

At 4 we went down the street for a BBQ. It was awesome getting together with our neighbors and getting to know them better.

They had a little sprayer going and not all their grass in. This little guy found both. He got hosed down afterward and he loved it.

Here are some of our neighbors. Steve, Jewel and Erin. Steve and Jewel just moved in next door, and Erin and her husband live across the street. The little guy in the front lives down the street and he loves riding Summit's bike, even though he has his own. I guess we all want what we don't have.

We came home a little early so we could have birthday mississippi mud pie before Blake had to go to work. I am usually not a big fan of cool whip or whip cream, but I LOVE this dessert!!

I thought we had all the candles we needed but when it came time to get them on the "cake" I could not find them. I guess that is what I get for thinking.

After we sent Blake off to work we got all ready to go see the fireworks. One thing I must say here...... no one should ever have to work on their birthday. It should just be a "given" day off, but you get paid for it. We totally missed Blake. This was the first year he has not been there for fireworks.

We got to the park and realized that the fireworks were being lit off about 100 yards from where we were sitting. VERY COOL!!!!!

We had a blast waiting for the show to begin. The kids played at the park. And then they came over to the blanket and played with their glow sticks.

They loved shaking them and seeing what designs they made.

Of course they put them over their heads, because they are ANGELS!!!!!

Then the show began!!!!!!

It was a spectaular show. Who knew such a small town would put something so amazing together????? We were so close to where they we lighting the fireworks off that we could see the firemen out there. And we saw the flare as it shot up. The fireworks just exploded above our heads. The coolest one came at the end (by then I had put my camera away), but it covered the whole sky literally and then had streamers that looked like they were going to fall on you. It was really cool.
