Our Spring Break Visit to Utah

Most people head to a warmer destination when they go on Spring Break, but we are not most people so on March 21 we began our trek to Utah (just me and the kids cause Blake had to work). When we got there we were delighted to be on time for Sunday dinner at the Barton's. On Monday morning we went to visit one of the most important people in the whole world. You will all be stunned that we were cool enough to even be in the same room as this lady, so brace yourself!

Great Grandma Wilde and my crew. Grandma, I know you can't see this but just in case you hear through the grapevine we want you to know that we LOVE you so much and we were thrilled to be able to come visit you. What a joy you are to have in our lives.

Monday night, for F.H.E. we went swimming with the Barton's at the Lehi pool. We had so much fun! And just as a warning for any of you who are no familiar with Utah Health Department Code, for any child under the age of four has to have a swimmer and plastic pants on even if they are potty trained. That didn't go over all that well with Summit cause I had been telling him that since he was potty trained he would not have to wear swimmers any more. SORRY! NO PICTURES.

On Tuesday we went to Hogle Zoo with Whitney, Logan, Amy, Abby (she was playing hooky), Jamie, & Brayden. Again I was just lame enough to leave my camera behind again. So I have no pictures. Perhaps this will encourage Amy to post the pictures on her blog cause she remembered her camera. Summit was disappointed cause we never saw the zebras. I am not sure why he really wanted to see them, but he was sad they were not there.

After the zoo we went back to Amy's house and I convinced her to cut my hair. Here is the final product.

Amy had it all styled super cute that day, but again I did not have my camera so you get a shot of what I can do.

Tuesday night we had another special treat. We happen to be in town the same time the FINAL book of FABLEHAVEN came out. So we got to go to a book signing and big shin-dig. It was awesome! The following pictures are taken with my cell phone cause I forgot to bring in my camera.

This is my girls sitting on the edge of their seats.

Brandon Mull (author) signing books.

Bandon Doman (illustrator) signing books.

On Wednesday and Thursday I took care of Summit and Sedona who were not feeling well. Of course it would happen on vacation.

On Friday we got to go spend the day with a couple of my favorite ladies, AMY OLDHAM & LORI SKOLMOSKI. These ladies are the greatest. Thank you so much for lunch and the grand conversation. Amy I am so glad that Sam did not get sick.

Also, on Friday we had an impromptu pizza party at my mom's house. I love making pizza and it is even better with all kinds of family around. I was really excited because I got to use my mom's new bosch (smart move mom). I cannot say I was the first to use it cause she did make cookies and bread before I got my hands on it. But I was first to use the whole lid.

We even had some strange visitors. They had heard about our pizza party and just came walking right in. Never mind the fact that they did not recognize the kids in the front yard, or anyone in the house. They even came bearing gifts (a bottle of wine). It took them a while to realize that they were not in the right place. There is a house a block over, but still on the same road, that looks exactly like my parent's house and they happen to be having a party that same night. It was such a funny thing to have happen that I could not keep it out of the blog.

Thanks so much to the Barton's for letting us stay at their house and stocking us up for our drive home. Thanks to all the family and friends that made our visit so much fun. And thanks to the strange couple that came walking in the door who gave us something to laugh about. We love you all!

wow! you guys had a tremendous Spring Break! And what a brave mom to take five kids up to Utah by yourself!!! I am EXTREMELY jealous that you got to see Brandon Mull and get your Fablehaven autographed. I finished it pretty quick and now Morgan has snatched it up. That is one amazing series.
Keep having fun!

What a fun Spring Break! Sometimes you just have to go somewhere cold for Spring Break when you live somewhere so hot! And I LOVE your hair! Super cute!
