The Capitol Tree

So way back, over a month ago, we had the opportunity to go see the capitol Christmas tree. I am not sure how many of you know this, but it came from right here in Arizona. The tree started it's national tour back on November 10th, and our town was it's first official stop. There were a lot of people who took their kids out of school to see the tree. I didn't realize it was THAT big of a deal, so I just took Summit and Sedona. Savannah and Sierra got to walk down to the main road from their school and see the tree pass through town, so I guess the only one that did not get to see the tree was Saige and I am pretty sure it will take years of counseling for her to be okay with that. She could always blame it on being the middle child. So here are a few pictures of the tree.


The truck in the front of this picture is the head federal officer that was in charge of making sure the tree showed up in DC safely. And we know him, so that is cool. But the truck with the tree in it is in the background. It is a stinking huge truck and it is refrigerated. It took them 2 days to wrap the tree up and have it ready for it's national tour. So even thought they were first thinking that they would unwrap it at every stop, they quickly decided there was no way they were going to do that.

We got to sign the banner on the truck. One think we learned from the head federal officer, it that the truck driver has the final say of where he will drive, and it is the officers job to clear the path.


So in the end we got to wish the President and the Nation a Merry Christmas, so that was pretty cool.
